    Financial Aid

The decision to attend medical school holds not only academic, but also financial considerations for students and their families. The Office of Financial Aid is dedicated to helping all students develop a viable financial plan for attendance.

Developing a practical financial plan means understanding the costs associated with your medical education and determining how much money will be needed for each semester you are in attendance. Funding options may include personal and family contributions, scholarships, and loans. The financial aid section of the 六九色堂 website contains basic information concerning the estimated cost of attendance.

Please feel free to contact the Office of Financial Aid at 646-860-0399 or at finaid@umhs-sk.net for additional assistance and counseling.

    Family residency requirements

    Spouses

Spouses are granted temporary residency in St. Kitts so they can accompany their partners for the duration of their studies. Like the students, spouses will also have to obtain temporary visas. Please contact the Admissions department for further details. Spouses wishing to work on St. Kitts will need to obtain a work permit, which is often difficult to obtain for non-Kittitians.

    Relatives and friends

Relatives and friends may travel to St. Kitts without a visa for approximately one month. After a month, an extension will be required. Please be advised that the government of St. Kitts has the right to approve or deny an extension. Once on the island, if you are going to seek an extension, please coordinate with Dr. Frank Wagner.

    Children

Legally, children under 18 are allowed to stay in St. Kitts with a student as long as they are registered with the Education Department, especially if they will be enrolled in the public school system. There are a variety of both public and private schools on St. Kitts. If you are bringing school-aged children to St. Kitts, we suggest that you contact Dr. Prakash Mungli, Dean of Student Affairs, who can advise you on school options.

    Student Orientation and Registration

A week before classes begin, new students will be registering for classes and attending a week-long orientation program. This gives new students time to acclimate to island life, connect with fellow classmates, and be introduced to the campus, academic programs, and student services. During orientation week, several events are planned to help students acclimate to their new environment, including a first-semester party, a catamaran/snorkeling trip for students and faculty, and a tour of St. Kitts.

    Student Catamaran at Sunset

Seminars occur during orientation to help new students become familiar with their unique living environment. Students meet with the St. Kitts police to learn about traffic safety and security. Also, local government officials will discuss visas, immigration, and national security, and the University president personally provides students with both a campus tour and an orientation presentation. Students will also have an opportunity to visit the local banks and the supermarket. During the evening hours, our welcoming committee plans social events and group dinners.

    Your Future Awaits You

Become the doctor you were meant to be by embarking on the journey of medical school. You bring your compassion, drive, and focus, and we鈥檒l support you every step of the way.
