    Lori Montross, Ph.D.

    Course Director of Behavioral Sciences


    Dr. Lori Montross completed her NIH Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of California San Diego after obtaining her Ph.D. in Clinical and Counseling Psychology at the University of Kentucky. Since that time, Dr. Montross has become a licensed clinical psychologist, mixed-methods researcher, and educator with over 15 years of experience.

    In her clinical work, Dr. Montross has specialized in geriatric psychiatry, with an emphasis on preserving the dignity and well-being of people diagnosed with cancer or dementia. As a mixed-methods researcher and principal investigator, she has received competitive grant funding from the American Cancer Society, the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, the Clinical and Translational Research Institute, the MAPI Research Trust, as well as the International Alzheimer’s Association. She has published over 45 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters with notable contributions in areas of dignity-conserving care, multiculturalism, palliative care, and suicide prevention. As an educator, she was voted “Faculty of the Year” twice for her ability to creatively blend teaching with larger community action.

    Today, Dr. Montross brings her multi-faceted experience to the University of Medicine and Health Sciences where she enthusiastically teaches behavioral science and continues to promote the human side of healthcare.
