The Arab Student Union (ASU) at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences held their 2nd annual Faces of The World Part 2 on Monday, November 7th, 2016.

The event was held in the Auditorium on campus where faculty, staff and students all gathered for a night of entertainment and a full meal consisting of a variety of food from all around the world including: Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Puerto Rico, America, India and Poland.

Faces of The World Part 1 consisted of a representative from each culture on campus that introduced their cultures identity to the whole university with the purpose of educating the schools population on what their culture or country is really all about.

For Faces of The World Part 2, The Arab Student Union took it a step further. Since everybody got a glimpse of what each culture was about they decided to make it a fun, respectable and comical night. They used the 鈥淐ompare and Contrast鈥 theme and played out skits in front of the faculty, staff and student body that showed the funny similarities and differences between the cultures.

For example, one skit that the crowd loved was called 鈥淔irst Impressions: When Peter Meets the Arab Family,鈥漚nd another skit ASU did was called 鈥淲hat They Think They Sound Like Verses What They Really Sound Like,鈥 which showcased multiple Puerto Rican students from campus. The crowd absolutely loved it.

We wanted to give the students a nice break from studying and entertain them after a long, exhausting Block 2. My Members and I were successful at bringing so many different ethnicities and cultures from across the campus together. It is really a beautiful thing to see all cultures laughing together and being able to make fun of each other鈥檚 culture respectfully without hurting anybody. It really shows you that humanity is not dead and this world will always be filled with more love than hate. At the end of the day, love always wins!
